What is the difference between RRT and EMDR?
RRT and EMDR are both used to heal trauma, but they work differently. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) uses bilateral stimulation — often guided eye movements — to help the brain reprocess a distressing memory so it loses its emotional charge, and typically involves recalling the memory during the work. Rapid Resolution Therapy uses guided imagery, therapeutic hypnosis, and storytelling to communicate with the emotional mind, and is designed so clients usually do not have to relive or re-describe the painful event. Both are effective; which one fits depends on the person and what they’re working through, and your therapist at The Banyan Tree can help you decide.
