I’m Dr. Morgan Minut, a Licensed Psychologist at The Banyan Tree Center in Athens, Georgia. I offer therapy for clients ages 10 and up and psychological testing for clients ages 5 and up. I see clients in person in Athens and via telehealth across participating states as a PsyPact member.

I’ve always been drawn to people and what makes them tick. That curiosity is what led me to become a psychologist, and it’s what drives the work I do every day. I earned my PsyD from Marshall University and completed my predoctoral internship at Valley Health in Huntington, West Virginia, followed by postdoctoral training at Marshall Psychiatry and the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. I’ve been doing this work for six years and I’m still just as invested as I was on day one.

My approach is warm, straightforward, and grounded in evidence. I think therapy works best when it feels like a real partnership, two people working together to understand what’s going on and figure out what to do about it. I want you to feel seen, supported, and like you’re actually making progress, not just talking in circles.

“Whatever you’re carrying, you don’t have to carry it alone.”

What I Specialize In

Anxiety in Athens, GA

Who I work with: People dealing with anxiety often feel overwhelmed, worn out, or like their brain never gives them a break. They may struggle to make decisions, start new things, or get stuck in thought spirals they can’t find their way out of. Some experience panic attacks. Many have been managing it alone for a long time before reaching out.

What we do together: We work on understanding what’s driving the anxiety and building real tools to manage it. Some of that is talking through what’s going on and getting honest feedback. Some of it is action, figuring out what changes to make and what to try. Both matter. I have the training and experience to help you find what actually works for you.

Psychological Testing in Athens, GA

Who I work with: Some people come in because they’ve always felt like something is just slightly off and they want answers. Others have been told they might have ADHD, a learning difference, or something else and want to know for sure. Psychological testing gives you a clear, detailed picture of how your brain works so you can stop guessing and start getting the right kind of support.

What we do together: I conduct thorough psychological and neuropsychological assessments for children ages 5 and up and adults. Testing typically covers cognitive functioning, attention, memory, processing, and emotional factors. After testing I walk you through what the results mean in plain language and what to do with them. The goal is clarity and direction, not just a diagnosis.

LGBTQIA+ Identity and Affirmation

Who I work with: Clients often come in feeling out of place, fearful of judgment, or deeply alone. They may be struggling to find a safe space to just be themselves. Some carry guilt or feel like something is wrong with them because of the bias or rejection they have experienced. That weight is real and it deserves real attention.

What we do together: I offer a judgment-free space where identity can be explored and processed at whatever pace feels right. I have experience working with the LGBTQIA+ community and understand the specific challenges that often come with it. We work through the guilt, the depression, and the fear, and build toward a stronger, more settled sense of who you are.

Mood Disorders and Depression

Who I work with: Clients often describe feeling heavy, weighed down, or like their emotions are completely out of their control. Some experience intense irritability. Some can’t see any light anymore. Others can barely find the energy for the simplest things, getting out of bed, making a meal, answering a text. If any of that sounds familiar, you are not alone and you don’t have to stay there.

What we do together: I meet people exactly where they are. Some days we take small steps and some days we take bigger ones. I draw on evidence-based approaches to help you understand what’s happening and start to shift it. We build from whatever is manageable right now and work our way forward from there.

Women’s Health

Who I work with: Many women come in feeling unheard in healthcare settings, or are navigating major life changes like pregnancy, loss, or fertility challenges. They may feel helpless, scared, or anxious about their health and what it means for their future. These are hard things to carry, and they are worth taking seriously.

What we do together: I help clients build tools for speaking up for themselves in medical settings and beyond. We also work on coping with change, processing grief and loss, and finding ways to stay grounded when things feel out of your control. You deserve support that actually addresses what you’re going through.

A Few Things I Want You to Know

Before your first session: I am never here to judge. I am always on your team and I genuinely want the best for you. Whatever brought you here, I’m glad you’re here.

Something I wish more people knew: Mental health is health. You deserve to get help for your mental health just like you would for a broken bone or any other part of your body that needs care. It isn’t your fault and you don’t have to keep pushing through it alone.

Who I do my best work with: People who are open to trying, even when it feels hard. You don’t have to have it all together. You just have to show up. I will meet you the rest of the way.
