Hailey Garfinkel
Are you seeking a therapist who can help your child understand and express their emotions, and provide them with the tools to thrive?
Look no further. As a therapist specializing in working with neurodivergent children aged one and up and individuals of all ages and abilities, my approach is grounded in a strength-based mindset. My goal is to empower your child to embrace their uniqueness, celebrate their differences, and unleash their full potential. Through interactive strategies, we will work together to deepen their understanding of themselves and their emotions, and give them the skills they need to flourish and thrive. Let's embark on this journey to help your child realize how awesome they already are!
My Experience
Throughout my personal journey, I have come to see my own neurodivergence as a unique gift that has enabled me to cultivate a deep sense of empathy and compassion for others. As a result, I am passionate about empowering people to embrace their uniqueness and understand how their mind works, enabling them to thrive in any situation. I have worked in private practice, non-profits, and schools to help neurodivergent individuals feel seen, heard, and valued.
In recognition of the unique struggles that neurodivergent individuals face, I founded “Hailey’s Healthy Hangout” in March 2020. This passion project is designed to promote social connection and increase the well-being of neurodivergent individuals through a virtual community and podcast. My Education
I hold a Master of Social Work (MSW) and a Bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Sciences from The University of Georgia, with certificates in Disability Studies and Marriage and Family Therapy. I am currently in the process of becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Registered Play Therapist (RPT).
Additionally, I am a Neurodiversity-Affirming Therapist, Certified Autism-Informed Professional, and Founder of a social organization serving neurodivergent individuals. To further my understanding, I am undergoing training to become a Neurodiversity Family Coach and a Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist.
What to Expect from Me
My therapeutic philosophy is rooted in a neurodiversity-affirming, client-centered, and strengths-based framework that values building genuine connections with my clients. With an integrative theoretical orientation, I tailor my approach to accommodate clients’ unique strengths, interests, needs, and learning styles.
I draw on various techniques, including mindfulness, emotional regulation, and mind-body connection, as well as expressive arts, play therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy. I create a welcoming, non-judgmental space where clients feel safe and excited to engage in the therapeutic process. I celebrate and honor diversity, recognizing that everyone has unique and valuable experiences to share. My ultimate goal is to support my clients on their journey toward healing and self-discovery while realizing their inherent greatness.
