What Types of Psychological Testing Are Available?

We offer a wide range of psychological tests to address diverse assessment needs. The specific tests administered are selected based on the referral questions and individual concerns. You do not need to know the exact type of testing you need before giving us a call! We can help recommend the scope of testing that would be beneficial for you during your initial contact with our intake coordinator and the first interview appointment with your psychologist. Common types of psychological tests available include:

  • Cognitive and Intelligence Tests: Assess general intellectual functioning, reasoning, problem-solving, memory, and processing speed.
  • Academic Achievement Tests: Evaluate skills in reading, writing, mathematics, and other academic areas to identify learning strengths and challenges.
  • Neuropsychological Tests: Examine specific cognitive domains such as attention, executive functioning, language, visuospatial skills, and memory, often used when there are concerns about brain-based conditions.
  • Behavioral and Emotional Assessments: Measure symptoms of anxiety, depression, ADHD, behavioral disorders, and other emotional or behavioral concerns.
  • Personality Assessments: Explore personality structure, coping styles, and interpersonal functioning, which can aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Adaptive Functioning Assessments: Assess practical, social, and conceptual skills necessary for daily living and independence.
  • Developmental Screenings: Identify developmental delays or neurodevelopmental disorders in children and adolescents.

Testing may involve standardized questionnaires, structured tasks, interviews, and input from family members, teachers, or other relevant sources. Each assessment is tailored to the individual’s age, background, and presenting concerns to ensure a comprehensive and accurate evaluation.
